San Joaquin Church in Iloilo 13

It was actually my first time in Iloilo last November for the Philippine Blog Awards Visayas and Visayas Blogging Summit. Thanks to Iloilo Bloggers who arranged a Heritage Tour for us. We visited mostly old churches and our first stop was the municipality of San Joaquin which is about 53 kilometers from Iloilo City.

We first visited the San Joaquin Church. The journey took us an hour but it’s all worth it. San Joaquin Church is one of Philippines’ National Cultural Treasures. The church was built around 1859 – 1860 and it’s the only church which has a facade that shows a historic battle – the Battle of Tetuan.

After San Joaquin Church, we proceeded to San Joaquin Cemetery which is also a National Cultural Treasure. The one that you see above is not a mausoleum but it’s actually a mortuary chapel.

Thanks! :) Yeah, ang saya-saya namin dun sa cemetery. Winston and I were the first to go up the mortuary church tapos sumunod sila.

  3. And after that, everything became picturesque, hehe! Naging photo-shoot area sya, hehe! Actually, being an acro-necro-polis itself, para nga syang ancient ruins of ganito o ganyan sa ancient Greece.

May nagsabi nga daw, dyan daw mag-pre-nup. :p

Ayos din mag-prenup jan kung walang konsepto ng pagiging morbid ang ikakasal. haha. Naisip ko sa kanya yung sa Thailand, parang sa video ng Bed of Roses ni Bon Jovi. lolz.
